Refund policy

Thank you for shopping with Scalawags Pet Boutique! We appreciate your support of our independent shop. We are always happy to provide additional product information or guidance when shopping for your scalawags. We understand there may be occasions when a purchase may not be quite right. Our Exchanges/Returns policy is outlined below and includes specific restrictions and instructions. Please read it carefully to make sure your request meets our guidelines.

Damages in Shipping

Please check your order carefully upon receipt.ย Packages which are obviously damaged should be refused and left with the carrier as it is their responsibility for damage occurring during transit. If the condition of the package is questionable, make sure that the carrier makes note of it, and if possible, take photographs.

    If upon inspection, your shipment is damaged, filing a damage claim with the shipper is the responsibility of the recipient and should be done within 48 hours of delivery.ย  We recommend you save all shipping materials to support your claim.
        Exchanges/Returns
        • Pre-approval is required for all requests to exchange or return merchandise and mustย be submitted to Scalawags within 48 hours of receipt.
        • Send return request to orders@scalawagspetboutique.comย or call us at 207.967.2775.
        • To qualify for an exchange or refund, all items must be returned in their original, unused condition, including original packaging and tags and documentation.
        • After receiving and inspecting the returned item(s), we will reimburse your credit card for the purchase price of the item, less any shipping, handling, or restocking fees, or send you a replacement item for exchange.
        • All returned items are subject to a 10% of the purchase price restocking fee.
        • Shipping fees are non-refundable.
        • Items on sale are final sale.
        • Special orders, personalized, customized, and otherย items, as indicated in the item description, may not be returned. Additionally, the following items are not eligible for exchange/return: gift certificates, beds, blankets, dog carriers, retractable leashes, socks, boots, hats, chewed toys, costumes, seasonal and holiday.
        Shipping Instructions for Exchanges/Returns
        • Once you have contacted Scalawags and received return or exchange approval, send the item(s) for exchange/return along with proper documentation to:

        • Please beย sure to include your name, address, telephone number and email address in case we need further information.

        • If you are using the United States Post Office for shipping, you must include โ€œPO Box 818.โ€ Other carriers such as UPS and Federal Express will deliver to the 3 Dock Square address. You will be responsible for paying for all shipping costs associated with an exchange or refund. Shipping costs are non-refundable.

        • If you are shipping an item over $75, you should consider using a trackable shipping service or purchasing shipping insurance. We donโ€™t guarantee that we will receive your returned item.

        Refunds (if applicable)

        • Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.

        • If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit less shipping fees willย automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment. A 10% restocking feeย may apply and will be included in your refund notification.

        • Please note refunds may take 14+ business days from the time Scalawags processes the refund to the time it takes to post to your account. Posting periods vary from bank to bank and credit card companies.ย
